In Year 10, Abbotsleigh students participate in the Work Experience Program in Term 2 Week 5. In 2025, the program will operate over the week of Monday 26 May to Friday 30 May. An important part of the work experience program is for the student to arrange her own employment and complete necessary documentation. All relevant resources can be found by selecting your role below. If an employer can offer a work experience placement, the school would be most appreciative, as it is felt that such an opportunity is invaluable to a young person who is trying to plan an appropriate career path.

It should be noted that:

  1. The student is a volunteer worker; therefore, no wages are to be paid. Moreover, because no wages are paid to the student, no additional financial obligation under the Workers' Compensation Act is incurred.
  2. No student is to be employed in any hazardous activities or to be allowed to operate any dangerous machines. Employers are required to read through the Prohibited Activities and Student Safety Advice documents, prior to the students commencing placement.
  3. Abbotsleigh has insurance policies which indemnify the employer in the case of accident/death. A copy of the Certificate of Currency can be found by selecting your role below.
